Study in Australia

Choosing an Australian course

Australia is an increasingly popular destination for Vietnamese students and researchers. All Australian states and territories offer quality education at all levels (school, vocational education and training, higher education, English and short courses).

Click here for the Study in Australia website through which the Australian Government provides information for international students about studying at Australian education institutions.

Click here (http://cricos.deewr.gov.au/ ) for the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS) which is the official Australian Government website that lists all Australian education providers to offer courses to people studying in Australia on student visas and the courses offered.

Choosing an Education Agent

If you have decided to study in Australia, but need help with the application process, you may consider using an education agent. It is not compulsory to use an education agent. An education agent should be able to:

• provide you with accurate up-to-date information on the Australian education system; education and training providers in Australia and living in Australia (e.g. the cost of living, accommodation options, transport, health, etc.)
• help you complete enrolment forms
If you decide to use an education agent, it is important that you select an education agent who is qualified to assist you.

Consumer Protection

The Education Services for Overseas (ESOS) Act outlines consumer protection provisions for international students enrolled in courses in Australia.

The ESOS framework protects the interests of overseas students by setting out standards, roles and responsibilities for education institutions that teach overseas students, as well as providing tuition and financial assurance for students. Click here https://aei.gov.au/regulatory-information/pages/regulatoryinformation.aspx for more information about consumer protection for international students in Australia.

Australian courses in Vietnam

Many Australian education institutions deliver courses in Vietnam, either independently or in partnership with Vietnamese institutions. Australian institutions can publish offshore courses on AusLIST.

Click here (http://auslist.deewr.gov.au/Course/CourseList.aspx) for access to AusLIST.

AusLIST can help you to identify courses which meet Australia’s registration, accreditation and quality assurance standards. AusLIST may not have a complete list of institutions and courses available in Vietnam. This is because listing on AusLIST is voluntary for institutions, and some may choose not to be listed. If you’re interested in an institution or course but can’t find it on AusLIST, check the Australian Qualifications Framework register.

Inclusion of a course on AusLIST means that the qualification it leads to is a genuine Australian qualification. However, this does not guarantee that the Australian qualification will be formally recognised in your country. Before enrolling, talk to the relevant authorities in your country or ask the contact person for the course which is shown on AusLIST.

Before enrolling in a course, speak with the institution to ensure that course is right for you. Make sure to ask them for further details on how to enrol and on any prerequisites for the course.

Australian Alumni

The Vietnamese Graduates from Australia Club (VGAC) is open to all alumni of Australian institutions and has a network of more than 5000 members. VGAC aims to create an effective networking venue for its members as well as to contribute to the promotion of friendship, collaborative relations and mutual understanding between Vietnam and Australia.
