Longer Visitor visas

Longer Visitor visas

Parents of Australian citizens and permanent residents and other eligible applicants are able to apply for Visitor visas to visit Australia for longer.

  • Visitor visas of up to five years validity which provide a stay of up to 12 months on each entry to those parents who are outside Australia and are in the Parent (subclass 103) visa queue.
  • Visitor visas of up to three years validity with 12 months stay on each entry will be considered for parents who are outside Australia and are not in the Parent visa queue.

Visitor visas of up to three years validity with 3 month stay on each entry may be considered for any applicant (not just parents) on a case by case basis and in limited circumstances.

  • A trial of three-year validity visitor visas for eligible applicants within the Tourist and Business Visitor visa streams will be implemented in July 2016, targeted at frequent short-term travellers to Australia.
  • Applicants wishing to be considered should ensure they include supporting documents as outlined in the Visitor visa Document Checklist including evidence of their capacity to fund frequent short-term trips and strong ties to Vietnam.

Please be aware, a condition may be placed on long validity visas that restricts the time you spend in Australia to 12 months in every 18 months. Breach of this condition may result in cancellation of your visa and a subsequent exclusion period, preventing further travel to Australia for up to 3 years.
